foodie post

i am not a true foodie
i can be picky
outspokenly so
but
i do love
going to
new to me
restaurants

my friend amy
always
takes me somewhere new to me

this past sunday
i met her for udon
(japanese noodles)
at
tsuru ton tan
on east 16 street

the entryway is fabulous

the chandelier
looks
like
a
circlet of huge pearls

as if the alphabet threw itself against the wall

the alphabet theme continues through the bar area

thats rope
weaving its way
behind
another bar
where
there's seating for eating

there's a downstairs dining area

and
an upstairs

our table was a step up from the main floor

it was cozy
simple
clean

the food was delicous
the black bowl contains duck tsuke udon
the blue bowl is sukiyaki udon
lots of mushrooms an egg veggie and beef

not pictured was the side order
chunks of tatsuta (garlic fried) chicken

perfect meal to share
perfect for a frigid sunday

the menu is extensive
the wait staff is very happy to help
especially if you're a first time guest

tea
 - a lovely nutty light tea -
served
in those
keeps your hands cozy
mugs
